Dr. Naim Atiyeh was born in Amioun, Lebanon. He is one of ten siblings.


After obtaining his education at the University of Chicago, Dr. Atiyeh married Miss Wafa Mroueh, who has a Master’s in Social Work. Dr. Atiyeh credits most of his success and accomplishments to the love and support of his wife Wafa. They have two children together, Lyna and Ghassan.

His daughter, Dr. Lyna Atiyeh, is a physician and did her training in anesthesiology at Harvard University. She is married to Dr. Craig Ellison, a gastroenterologist.

His son, Dr. Ghassan Atiyeh is a pediatrician who trained at Children’s National Medical Center. He currently practices in Northern Virginia. Dr. Ghassan Atiyeh is married to Caron Alfriend, a nurse in pediatric critical care.

Dr. Atiyeh has six grandchildren. Juliana, 22, graduated with honors with a Bachelor of Science in Psychology, and plans to go to graduate school to pursue further degrees in counseling and therapy. Maya, 20, is in the Honors College at Boston College, is in her junior year, and is also majoring in psychology with a public health minor. Alex, 17, is a high school senior and planning to pursue a medical career. Sophie, 16, is an exceptional high school junior, who recently completed the highly-competitive Federal Bureau of Investigations (F.B.I.) Youth Leadership Program. She plans to pursue a career in criminal justice. Olivia, 13, and Xavier, 10 are active, inquisitive and adore their grandfather.

Dr. Atiyeh currently resides in the Washington, DC metropolitan area, surrounded by his loving children and their families.
